In 2012, Matt and Elaine took their toddler and newborn to the jungles of Costa Rica for an unplugged life and a little adventure. Every Saturday at the local farmer’s market, they tried a new bar of freshly made chocolate. It soon occurred to them that they could learn how to make this pure chocolate and bring it back to Atlanta! By late 2014, they were quickly becoming Atlanta’s bean-to-bar craft chocolate company. As a former campaign manager to the late Congressman John Lewis, Matt is committed to leveraging Xocolatl as a force for social good. A former Peace Corps Volunteer, Elaine also worked in international and domestic non-profits on issues like environmental justice and knows that business choices at home can elevate human potential and environmental stability abroad. They hope their chocolate leaves you with the same sense of contentment and adventure from which it originally came.
