Founded in 2010, Potomac was the first bean-to-bar chocolate maker in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Ben began as a skeptic of find dark chocolate but after his brother and sister-in-law introduced him to it, he was quickly converted. In the months following his introduction to fine chocolate, he started holding tastings for some friends. At one of them, a friend suggested they should try to make it. This was, of course an absurd suggestion. Nevertheless, within a couple months, they had acquired a few small pieces of equipment and had made their first batch. From the moment Ben first watched (and smelled!) nibs be ground into chocolate, he was hooked. Potomac Chocolate was born.
